AI Agents, Workflow Builder, and Skills in Generate Enterprise

Generate Enterprise lets teams go beyond chat by building custom AI agents, automating multi-step processes with a visual Workflow Builder, scheduling jobs to run on their own, and packaging reusable expertise as Skills. Together these turn Generate from a question-answering tool into an automation platform grounded in your organization’s knowledge.

AI Agents in Generate are specialized AI assistants configured for specific tasks. Each agent can be given custom instructions, access to specific tools, and knowledge scoped to only what it needs. Agents can be built with a visual Agent Builder or with a Quick Mode for fast setup, and existing agents can be managed, templated, imported, and exported.

How do you create an AI agent in Generate?

Section titled “How do you create an AI agent in Generate?”

Users create an agent by defining its instructions, selecting the tools and connectors it can use, and scoping the knowledge it can draw on. Generate offers a visual builder for detailed configuration and a quick mode for rapid setup. Templates provide pre-built starting points, and agents can be imported and exported to move them between contexts.

The Workflow Builder is a visual tool for automating multi-step processes in Generate. Users connect steps, add conditions, and let Generate run the sequence — either starting from a template or building a workflow from scratch. Workflows automate repetitive, multi-stage work that a single chat message would not handle.

Can Generate run agents and workflows on a schedule?

Section titled “Can Generate run agents and workflows on a schedule?”

Yes. Generate supports scheduled jobs, which let an agent or workflow run automatically on a defined schedule rather than only when a user triggers it manually. This is used for recurring tasks such as periodic reports or routine data processing.

Skills are reusable, packaged units of expertise that give the AI specific capabilities. Users can browse a curated Skills library, create their own skill, or upload a skill as a file. Skills can then be scoped to New Chat, Agents, or Projects so the right expertise is available in the right place.
